#KPOPCON7 Wardrobe 101

Still have no idea what to wear this weekend, but refuse to wear the generic fandom shirts? No need to look any further because your fave idols give you some outfit ideas. You can also wear them even when the event is long over. The best part is, you probably already have these items in your closet.

La Vie Boheme

Taeyeon made her solo debut earlier this year with “I.” The oversized sweaters, maxi dresses, ankle boots, and braided hair she she wears during her performances and in her album jacket photos have made her this year’s boho chic peg.

Why should you wear it to KCon? This outfit is perfect for those who want to pull off that comfy “I woke up like this” vibe without being sloppy. Besides, you can easily remove or put on the sweater if it gets too hot or cold at the venue.

Bonus style tip: When it comes to bohemian jewelry, the more unique, the better. Find pieces made from natural elements like wood, coral, turquoise, feathers, or even suede.

When you can wear it again: At an outdoor party. Use the sweater to warm you up, especially once the wind starts blowing.

Invincible Youth

Oh My Girl is one of the many talented girl groups to debut this year. Their age-appropriate style, which fits their innocent and lovable image, is one that anyone can imitate. This look consists of basics such as a white blouse, denim overall dresses, and white sneakers.

Why should you wear it to KCon? From slim cuts to those with fuller, flattering skirts, the overall dress is a stylish alternative to your usual shorts, jeans, or denim skirts. You will be doing also be walking and standing a lot, so it’s best if you wear sneakers.

Bonus style tip: Make overalls look more mature by teaming them with grown up pieces. Wear a blouse instead of a T-shirt underneath for a more sophisticated feel.

When you can wear it again: Family Christmas parties (whether it’s your family’s or that of your significant other’s) will require you to wear something that will make you look stylish without shocking the elders, but still keep you comfortable enough to participate in the fun.

Salvation Army

People have been anticipating JYP’s newest girl group Twice, especially after the reality TV show Sixteen, which showed us who made the final cut. In the ending scenes for their music video “Ooh Ahh,” they wear camouflage print and red, giving them that tough chick vibe.

Why should you wear it to KCon? For those with a not-so-girly style, wearing anything with camo print gives your wardrobe a more bad-ass feel to it. Besides, this is probably one of the few times you can get away with experimenting with trends without being judged.

Bonus style tip: Do not forget to accessorize, whether it is by adding some color or by wearing simple jewelry. You do not want to go in head-to-toe camo unless you’re an ROTC recruit on duty.

When you can wear it again: Camo looks good with anything sparkly or metallic, which makes it perfect for going out for dinner or clubbing with your girl friends.

Short Story

Every summer, Sistar releases a hot dance song and this year was no different. The girl group had everyone “Shaking It” earlier this year. The girls were styled in different looks, from schoolgirls outfits to sporty apparel, but it was either they were in shorts that emphasized their long legs.

Why should you wear it to KCon? Shorts and graphic shirts are everyone’s go-to outfit, especially for those “what to wear” moments in tropical climates like ours. Instead of the usual denim, take your cue from Sistar by wearing them in another neutral shade like white or in bright colors.

Bonus style tip: You can wear shorts at evening events, provided they are made luxe fabrics or have interesting details. Pair them with a crisp shirt and a nice pair of flats, and you’re good to go.

When you can wear it again: This look works for any casual event, or even running errands. With weather like ours, who needs an excuse to wear shorts?
