OFFROAD redefines fun, makes an unforgettable fan meeting in Manila

OFFROAD just changed the meaning of “fun” as they turned a traffic-jammed Friday into a very memorable night with their fans.

Members Daewon, Habin, Harang, Kino, and Rio finally met their Filipino fans on October 14, 2016 at the KCC K-Wave Hall in Bonifacio Global City. And for this special day, it wasn’t just a series of performances—it was a night of party, laughter, games, skinship, and adorable idol-fan interaction. So to reminisce the joy of last Friday’s event, we picked our top five moments we think were the highlights of the show!

1. OFFROAD singing James Reid’s “Huwag Ka Nang Humirit.”

In our interview with the boys last October 6, Harang mentioned that they prepared a Filipino song to serenade their Filipino fans. It wasn’t disclosed to us but on the day of the fan meeting, OFFROAD sang one of Filipino actor and singer James Reid’s popular songs “Huwag Ka Nang Humirit!” The fans (and we as well) were delighted, of course. We don’t always get our fave K-Pop idols singing in our own language, right? And kudos to them, it was an amazing performance!

2. OFFROAD speaking random Filipino words

OFFROAD arrived in the Philippines last October 5 which means they have been here for almost two weeks. Which means they have been in the country long enough for them to learn some basic Filipino words. At the fan meeting, the boys were randomly blurting out Filipino words and phrases they learned such as masarap (delicious), gwapo (handsome), maganda (beautiful), sinungaling (liar), siko (elbow), and one of the sweetest phrases in the Filipino language, “Mahal ko kayo” (I love you all).

3. The boys’ obsession for crispy pata

The boys, and their stomachs, have fallen in love with crispy pata. In fact, when Rio and Kino were asked what Filipino food they like, they were more than confident to say that they loved crispy pata. Don’t worry OFFROAD, we love crispy pata, too. Just have them in moderation though!

4. The funny interview session

Fan meetings are incomplete without a mini-interview and OFFROAD were game to take on the questions—even exposing some of the funniest facts about them. Harang says that among them, Kino snores “the best.” We’re not entirely sure how Kino does it but that’s great, we guess? Rio showed his wit when asked who he would save if OFFROAD ends up drowning, saying he’d save Harang because Harang is smart enough to probably think of how he could save the other members. Habin on the other hand was asked who his ideal type is and said “the fans.” Of course the fans were not having any of it so he changed it to “somebody who is smaller than him.” Kino showcased more Filipino language knowledge when asked about more words he learned. He said “sige sige” (yes, yes) and sang “Filipino” to the tune of The Black Eyed Peas’ “Bebot.” Lastly, Daewon was asked to show some MMA moves and he did! Kino even kidded that Daewon would always hit them.

5. The kilig-inducing games with OFFROAD

One of the best things to happen in fan meetings is that fans get to actually interact with their idols and play games with them! One of the games is a “kilig” moment game where an OFFROAD member and a fan would act out a break-up scene. The fan says “Break na tayo!” and walks away but before the fan could even make a step, the boys should back-hug the fan! Of course there were screams and laughter because who wouldn’t get “kilig” if OFFROAD back-hugs you, right? There was also the infamous Pepero game which got an equally loud amount of squeals from the fans.

So that’s it! How about you, what’s your favorite moment with OFFROAD? Tell us in the comments section!
