MONSTA X kicks off Asia fan meet in Manila

MONSTA X kicked off their first Asian fan meeting tour in Manila on November 27 in Skydome, SM North EDSA.

Shownu, Wonho, Minhyuk, Kihyun, Hyungwon, Jooheon, and I.M. form the hip-hop/R&B group under Starship Entertainment through the survival show “NO MERCY” in 2015. Since then they have released hits such as Tresspass, Rush, Hero, All In, and Fighter. Their latest album The Clan Part. 2 ‘GUILTY’ was released on October 4, 2016.

KStreetManila was invited to be part of the press conference held before the fan meeting, where they talk about their first album and their plans for the future.

Q: What does your group do best that fans can remember you?

Hyungwon: Our greeting is very unique, so we provide great impact through our greeting.

Q: There was one time in Abu Dhabi where you were spotted in a mall, in disguise. Did you have fun?

Kihyun: Actually, Hyungwon was the one who was in disguise. We were surprised, and we enjoyed going around a lot.
Minhyuk: We would like to be in disguise as a group next time.

Q: What is your most memorable trip outside Seoul?

I.M.: Philippines, because we are holding our first fan meeting here.

Q: Any music genres you would like to try in the future?

Minhyuk: We’d like to try an active, cuter concept.

Kihyun: No, I don’t think so. [Members laugh.]

Q: Please say something to the person next to you.

Hyungwon to Jooheon: You’re very handsome.

Q: Tell us about your latest album, The Clan Part. 2 ‘GUILTY.’

Jooheon: With the single being Fighter, we tried to evoke a fighter, stronger concept.

Q: What are the highlights of your career in 2016? What else do you hope to achieve in 2017?

Jooheon: The concerts are the highlights of our career this year. For next year, we hope to hold more concerts.

Q: What is your favorite song from your latest album?

Kihyun: We like Fighter. But our favorite song is White Girl because Jooheon wrote the song. Our fans also love it.

Q: If you could do anything other than sing or dance for the fans, what would it be?

Kihyun: What can we not do for the fans we love?

Q: What is your message to the Filipino fans?

Wonho: Thank you to the fans who waited for us. The temperature is different in the Philippines; it’s because of the heat of the fans. Mahal namin kayo.

Here are some of the shots from the press conference.
