Yohan Hwang sings Korean version of ‘Ikaw’ for K-Drama

When a Korean drama premieres on local television, there is excitement not only on the show itself, but also on the theme song. It’s typical for the local network to provide a local song in the Tagalog-dubbed version of the drama—after all, the theme song is as memorable as the show. (Remember the Tagalog-dubbed Stairway to Heaven’s theme song, Pag-Ibig Ko’y Pansinin? That memorable.)

With the premiere of Moonlight Drawn by the Clouds fast approaching on ABS-CBN, it is revealed that the local theme song will be Ikaw by Yeng Constantino.

But here’s a twist—Ikaw is sung in Korean for Moonlight. Here’s a short preview from the ABS-CBN trailer:

Impressed? The singer is none other than Yohan Hwang, the winner of the reality show I Love OPM. Here’s the full version of Ikaw/Noege 너에게:

Born in Ilsan, South Korea, Yohan and his family moved to the Philippines in 2014. Last year, he joined I Love OPM, where he went against fellow foreigners, performing only Filipino songs. Fans and judges alike swooned at his soft and sweet voice, perfect for ballads. He was eventually proclaimed the winner in the show’s grand finale.

Here’s his winning performance to Gary Valenciano’s Huwag Ka Nang Umiyak:

These days, Yohan is well-known for covering OPM songs in Korean. You would mistake his covers as straight out of a Korean drama theme song, his soft yet deep voice giving you all sorts of emotions.

Ikaw got you interested? Here’s his other Korean cover of an OPM song. Titled Du Sa Rang (두사랑), this is a cover of KZ Tandigan’s Mahal Ko o Mahal Ako.
