Hallyuniverse 4 highlights Filipinos’ love for K-Pop

K-Pop fans showed their love for their idols at GT Toyota Asian Center in UP Diliman for the fourth year of Hallyuniverse.

The event, organized by the University of the Philippines Society of Students for Korean Popular Culture or HallyUP, is themed “Love (사랑).” HallyUP president Karli Ang said the fourth Hallyuniverse aimed to showcase different kinds of love.

Fans watched as their fellow fans participated in the event competitions—I Got the Looks (best impersonation of a K-Pop idol), I Got the Voice (singing contest), and I Got the Moves (dance contest). Fans checked out the booths by local fanclubs, co-presenters, and media partners.

Jewelle Capuno won I Got the Looks for her impersonation of GFRIEND’s Umji. Duo Keena provided a soulful performance of 2NE1’s “Come Back Home” to win the I Got the Voice title. Quartet Jojamstar swept the crowd—and won the I Got the Moves title—with a SISTAR medley. The winners took home with them cash prizes, freebies, and gift certificates.

There were also special performances by Chindanai “Bank” Bhuwakul (GOT7 Bambam’s brother), JC Marasigan, and Avii Pineda.

A special thank you to HallyUP for inviting us to be a part of the event. We would also like to thank those who visited to our booth and participated in our contest and mini-games. See you at the next event!
