Countdown to #KPopRepublic2: Feel the hype with NCT 127

We’re down to the last and perhaps most awaited artist of K-Pop Republic 2 (which is happening this weekend!) and we’re more than thrilled to introduce one of SM Entertainment’s newest boy groups: NCT 127!

NCT 127 is a unit of a larger boy group called NCT or Neo Culture Technology. They debuted on July 1 last year with seven members—Haechan, Jaehyun, Mark, Taeil, Taeyong, Winwin, and Yuta—and added two more—Doyoung and Johnny—this year. Although just over a year old, NCT 127 is already known to be one of the most experimental and boundary-pushing bands of K-Pop’s newest generation.

It will be the group’s first time in the Philippines so which NCT 127 songs and performances are we most looking forward to at the K-Pop Republic 2? Check out our list below and see why you should be as hyped up as we are for them:

1. Cherry Bomb

The main track from their second EP of the same title, Cherry Bomb would be an amazing introduction! Its repetitive vocal beginning set in a silent background creates an eerie but equally exciting start because we know it’s going to be powerful as it carries on. Also, the choreography is just weirdly appealing and entertaining.

2. Fire Truck

If the boys aren’t starting with Cherry Bomb then we hope they’ll have Fire Truck! The “Get it lifted!” call at the start and the sudden beat drop that follows create the perfect hype for an energetic performance. Imagining it just makes us a lot more excited! Also, Winwin’s backflip anyone?

3. Limitless

A rather slow but still snappy song is something we’re also looking forward to. Not much for the dance but more on the vocal prowess of the group. The harmonization and the 90’s hip hop vibe will surely give us all a major throwback.

4. 0 Mile

Definitely one of the best feel-good songs NCT 127 has. We thought it would be a great song for them to be just happy on stage! Although the lyrics are…well, let’s say, quite intimate. Check out this live performance below and tell us what you think.

5. Good Thing

Jazz and NCT? Sure give me that! Another feel good song (“I just wanna feel good all night long,” Taeil’s line goes) to keep the balance. Just watch the video below and we’re pretty sure you’ll want this in the set list!

It wasn’t easy picking which performances we want to see. As expected of an SM Entertainment group, you cannot just say no to all of them! It’s quite a struggle narrowing down the choices to five, but more than these performances, we’re looking forward to seeing them not only enjoy the Philippines but also have wonderful interactions with Filipino NCTzens. Besides, Filipino fans are pretty much known to give the best welcome so why not give each other the best first impressions, right?

Catch NCT 127 at K-Pop Republic 2 on October 28 at the Circuit Event Grounds, Makati. Tickets are still available at all Ticketnet and SM Ticket outlets…

So be there or be square!
