Just as expected, this year’s Philippine K-Pop Convention delivered an equally exciting year-ender party for Filipino fans last December 17 at the Philippine Trade Training Center in Pasay City.
KPOPCON9, the ninth edition of the annual event, carried a carnival theme this year and featured a lot of festival-like activities for the whole day. Highlights of the event included K-Pop Dance Battle, K-Pop Singing Star, the annual K-Pop Kosplay, and the most anticipated K-Pop Idol Look-A-Like. Special guests also shared the fun on stage. “I Love OPM” contestant Sandra Jung performed a K-Pop acoustic medley with Kim Jaegul.
Meanwhile, Dasuri Choi gave a TWICE Likey tutorial for two lucky participants onstage, as well as a mesmerizing performance of Hyuna’s ‘Lip & Hip.’
Lastly, Jessica Lee from Idol School graced this year’s K-Pop Convention, sharing her experience at the recently concluded Korean idol-search show. She said that her most memorable moment at the show was secretly eating a chocolate bar with her fellow Idol School participant Herin (they were not allowed to eat anything else other than what was served to them). Having lived in the Philippines for six years, she shared her favorites in the country like food (her top three were pork adobo, inasal, and sinigang), and travel destination (Palawan, specifically El Nido). Recently, she’s doing vlogs in the places she’s been visiting to in the country. She said that she also plans to pursue a modeling career in the Philippines after her Lucky Me! commercial with Empoy. She also advised those who wish to be a K-Pop trainee to have compassion, effort, will, and “greed.”
