Here’s What You Missed at Happy Hallyu Day 2

The Philippine KPop Convention Inc.’s second installment of Happy Hallyu Day took place last September 9 at SM North EDSA. K-Pop and K-Drama fans flocked at the Skydome to root for their friends at the open stage, to learn something new about Korea, and to generally spazz about their faves with fellow fans. Here is the lowdown of what happened during the one-day event:

Lots of K-Pop Merch

Admit it—one of the best parts of K-Pop/K-Drama cons is being able to buy merch without paying for shipping fees. At Happy Hallyu Day 2, fan clubs of different fandoms plus sellers gathered at Skydome to display albums, photo cards, beauty products, and more.

Fun Games

A con would not be complete without fun games. Brave audience members got on to the stage to play a couple of games. The first game was Copy Cat, in which two groups have to copy what was the image on the screen—from the scene from Train to Busan to a pose by the cast of Running Man. Meanwhile, the second game put audience members’ K-Drama know-how to the test.

Informative Talks

Some experts from the Korean pop culture scene shared a few minutes of their time to talk to attendees about their know-how. Belle Yambao of Sparkling Magazine shared some hotspots in Korea that guests should add to their itineraries should they visit Korea. On the other hand, Raych Ramos (also known as @PinayUnnie) discussed the essentials for a K-Beauty regimen.

Intense Performances

Of course, not every K-Pop event is complete without performances by individual fans and cover groups. Attendees stood by, mesmerized by the Open Stage performers, who danced to music by BTS, Girls’ Generation, (G)-IDLE, and more. There were also special performances by winners of previous K-Pop singing and dance competitions.
