EXCLUSIVE: New K-Pop Boy Group NOIR Talks About The Philippines, BTS, And Future Plans

It was a fairly normal morning at the Manila hotel lobby, with the usual tourist crowd roaming around and staff busy at work. But unbeknownst to most, one of South Korea’s recently debuted boy groups, NOIR, was occupying a lushly padded conference room hidden in a corner of the Hotel.

Late last month, NOIR announced on their official Twitter account that they would be visiting the Philippines this December with All Access Productions following suit. The new group under LUK Factory is a 9-member boy band that debuted on April 9th of this year. They consist of Seunghoon, Yeonkuk, Junyong, Yunsung, Siheon, Hoyeon, Siha, Minhyuk, and Daewon. Three members of the group, namely: Kim Yeonkuk, Nam Yunsung, and Ryu Hoyeon, appeared on Mnet’s “Produce 101 Season 2.”

It was a morning made extra special for us over at KStreetManila as we got to sit down and have a chat NOIR to talk about their current visit to the Philippines and their plans for the future.

What was your initial reaction when you learned you’re going to the Philippines?

Seunghoon: We were very nervous that the fans might not know us or our group, but we were surprised that many fans were there [at the airport] to cheer for us, so we’re very thankful for that.

Anything you’re looking forward to do or see in the Philippines?

Seunghoon: We have a tour in the Philippines next year, not just in Manila but in different parts of the Philippines.

Do any of the members have unique (or even weird) hobbies? If there are, what are these?

Minhyuk: For me, I like to customize and up-style clothes and make my own designs.

Hoyeon: I love watching cartoons. I’m also learning Japanese and I like to learn while watching Anime.

Do you have any other K-Pop groups that you look up to? If none, any foreign artist?

Siha: Our role model is BTS. we’re inspired by them and want to be a group like them.

(Reporter’s Note: I was met with an appreciative reaction from the group when I mentioned how their songs reminded me of BTS, with Siha exclaiming “Thank You!” In English!)

If you were given a long vacation in the Philippines, where do you want to go and what do you want to do?

Junyong: We haven’t visited Boracay or Cebu yet, so with the members and I would like to go and enjoy the activities there.

Like Jetskiing?

NOIR (in unison): Ahhhh!

Or Parasailling?

NOIR (in unison): Ohhhh!!

Us too.

(The group laughs.)

For 2019, what can fans expect from NOIR?

Seunghoon: Next February we’ll have our Japan tour, and in March and April we have a South America tour. We’ll also be having our Philippine tour, as well as releasing our third album!

Looks like it’s going to be a busy year for you guys! Lastly, do you have a message that you want to share with your fans?

Seunghoon: We have many plans for next year and the future, so we hope fans will wait for us. We also have many performances planned as well, so they hope fans will show us a lot of love.

We had a great time with NOIR and we’re excited to see more of them next year! Many thanks to All Access Productions and LUK Factory for accommodating us and allowing us to interview NOIR.
