Stray Kids Songs to get you pumped for #UNVEILTOURinManila!

Barely a few days to go and Stray Kids will finally be making their way to Manila for their UNVEIL Tour “I am…” Are you excited to see them live? Because we definitely are!

But of course, all this excitement comes with a few preparations, and that includes knowing their songs by heart. If you are a bonafide STAY, then you don’t need to break a sweat. However, if you are new to the fandom, then we can definitely help you get pumped for April 27.

Interestingly, JYP introduced Stray Kids through the single, Hellavator, prior to the actual premiere of the reality survival show that will launch JYP’s newest boy group.  With its powerful lyrics of breaking away to move to brighter beginnings, the pre-debut single gained worldwide attraction of what is to come for the young boy group.

Beware / Grrr (총량의 법칙)

The lyrics of the rock-infused Beware / Grrr (총량의 법칙) is absolutely genius as it plays on the intricacy of the Korean language and the harsh consonants of Korean consonants to express relatable teenage frustration. Take note, the song was performed during the final mission of the reality show – prior to their actual debut. #geniuses

District 9

On March 25, 2018, the nine-member boy group finally debuted with District 9. The lyrics reflect Stray Kids desire to stray (pun intended) from the standards set by society. Interesting fact: Other than the number 9 representing the number of their members, “9” in Korean culture also means power and longevity, but also decline.  In this case, the kids of District 9 express desire for individuality, which results in a decline in blind following.

Continuing with the theme of identity confusion in their debut album, I am NOT, Stray Kids expresses their grief in losing oneself to the point that you can’t even see your face in the mirror.

Insomnia (불면증)

Stray Kids are just so relatable — they know what it’s like to have so many thoughts in your head that you just can’t sleep.

Admittedly, my favorite as this is probably the most emotional track I’ve heard from Stray Kids. The voices that cause us to doubt, sometimes, doesn’t come from the outside, but from within.

My Pace

In today’s fast-paced world, Stray Kids reminds us that it is okay to just go on your own pace.

My Side

We can’t help but say “aaawww…” at this touching gift from Stray Kids to their STAYs.

I am YOU

Concluding their “I Am…” album series, Stray Kids finds the answer to their search for identity.

Mixtape #2

Make sure to have a tissue beside you listening to this.

While not part of their past setlists, we can probably hope that they will include their newest single in their Philippine stop. We wouldn’t dare miss this song that made them clinch their first music show win!

Here is the Spotify playlist. Make sure you follow it and keep it on repeat until we finally see the boys on April 27!

Stray Kids’ UNVEIL Tour “I Am…” in Manila will be happening on April 27, 2019 at the SMART Araneta Coliseum. Tickets are still available via TicketNet outlets nationwide. This event is presented by PULP Live World.

Cheska De Ocampo
Always up and about, Cheska was once asked if she always meets different people every single day. Well – not always – but almost because it is part of her job description and because she is actively involved in church. Having the opportunity to join KStreetManila, she combines two of her loves – writing and Korean culture. During her downtime (which somehow rarely happens), she is either scrolling through Twitter, writing for her blog, trying to be fit, reading a good book, or appreciating beauty and fashion.
