This Month’s Beat: TXT

April has just begun, and while we’re feeling the summer heat here in the Philippines, Korea is just beginning to feel the wave of spring. Blossoms are blooming and what was once cold is sprouting new life again. Spring is ultimately the season of beginnings, and to celebrate new beginnings, this month’s beat is the newest boy group that’s making their own waves not just in Korea, but all over the world: TXT!

The group Tomorrow X Together (투모로우바이투게더), otherwise known as TXT, is a five-member boy group under BigHit Entertainment. While talks of a second boy group from BigHit have been in the works as early as 2017, the company revealed plans to the public only in the fall of 2018. The group’s name, TXT, was officially revealed on January 10, 2019, and was followed by a series of videos on YouTube introducing members of the group as well as a teaser of the final group.

The group consists of five members, namely: Yeonjun, Soobin, Beomgyu, Taehyun and Huening Kai. They debuted on March 4, 2019 with their first mini album “The Dream Chapter: STAR” and held their debut showcase at the Yes24 Live Hall the following day. Within the first 24 hours of their EP release, the music video for their debut single, “Crown” broke the record for boy groups for the most viewed music video within 24 hours!

Seeing as they’ve just debuted, let’s check out the five members of TXT:

Soobin is not only the tallest member of TXT, but he also happens to be the tallest known trainee under BigHit Entertainment at 185cm! He has earned various titles such as “Flower Boy” or “Flower Prince” on social media, and it shows in his performances. He’s a powerful visual to be reckoned with!

Yeonjun was the first member revealed in TXT’s lineup via his ‘Introduction Film’ teaser on YouTube, and it actually trended worldwide within the first 10 minutes of the teaser’s release. Don’t let his age fool you; this oldest member of TXT is definitely a fake maknae. Even though he may act younger than the rest of his bandmates, Yeonjun has a lot of experience under his belt. He was a former Cube Entertainment trainee before moving to BigHit. During his trainee days, he consistently ranked first during trainee evaluations. He even appeared as a backup dancer for BTS’ V’s ‘Singularity’ MV and live stages!

His hobbies include playing the guitar, and he’s currently practicing songwriting. Bamgyu is currently a student at Harlem Multi-Arts School and is actually friends with fellow schoolmates Euiwoong and Hyugseob from Produce 101.

Fun fact: Beomgyu’s first overseas trip was to the Philippines! He visited Manila when he was around 10 years old. He even mentioned during a fan sign that if he were to have an overseas holiday with his members, he’d like to go to Cebu!

Another student at Hanlim Multi-Arts School! Taehyun is supposedly the “Brain of TXT” and can speak English! He even used to do English-speaking educational videos for children when he was younger. He is described by members as being very passionate and mature, and he’s known for his fashion sense in the group.

The cutest maknae Huening Kai!
