#KStreetExclusive: The stars who share the love for K-Pop

Part 1 of 2

KStreet Manila caught up with AC Bonifacio, LMN Dance Crew, and Jinho Bae on the backstage of Oreo Play and Win Grand K-pop Fans Day last month and got the chance to hear about their craft, dream collaborations, and showing respect for people’s differences. The chat was light and fun despite the heat, and they did not hesitate to give us a peak of their lives, both as performers and as fellow K-pop fans!

The Passionate AC BONIFACIO

Fil-Canadian AC already has a lot under her name despite her young age: the coveted Ellen DeGeneres guesting, championing Dance Kids with her friend Lucky Ancheta as the Lucky Aces, Your Face Sounds Familiar stint, playing various roles on TV, even releasing her own dance tracks! Many K-pop fans would also know her for doing excellent dance covers of Blackpink, BTS, ITZY, EXO, and more on her YouTube account. Even with her accomplishments, her passion keeps on burning, and she shows no sign of letting go!

Can you tell us about your Nickelodeon experience?

ACB: Yes po! I got to go to LA to represent Nickelodeon Asia po, as part of their social squad, and we did a bunch of activities… I got to attend the Slime Soiree, which is their pre-KCA party. I also got to dance there with some of my friends from LA. I got to attend the Orange Carpet, ‘yung mismong event. So much fun! All the staff are so nice! All the people I met are just crazy talented! It was such a big opportunity and a blessing.

How about meeting all those Hollywood stars?

ACB: Everyone was so nice; everyone was so chill walking around the carpet there. The Orange Carpet is for the artists and their companions. They were just walking around like nothing, and I was fangirling around.

As a young girl, you have achieved so much. What is your goal for when you grow older?

ACB: Right now, I’m very passionate with what I’m doing, and I want to keep on performing. I love the camera. So whether it’s dancing, singing, hosting, or just being there, doing nothing or acting, I think I just want to keep doing what I’m doing po because I love performing.

If you have a chance to collaborate with any Korean stars, who would it be and why?

ACB: Oh, Blackpink! Blackpink, BTS… and I got to collab with Kriesha Chu! She’s so nice and so humble. She’s telling me about the industry and all these K-pop artists, and I just can’t wait to meet them and see how hard they work.

You mentioned [after your performance at the event] that you’ll release a new song soon. Can you tell us more about it?

ACB: It’s a single coming out. It took a while to get it prepared and everything because I released my first single last year ng May. We just recorded this second one, and I can’t wait to show everybody because it’s different from my first one.

Your message to other kids who are too shy to show their talent?

ACB: Oh no! I feel like you get shy at first, but once you start loving what you’re doing, it doesn’t matter what anyone else says. Ako, I am still shy. I’m a dancer, but obviously, I still get shy of certain moves… ‘yung mga pa-sexy po, I’m very shy about that. Pero I always have people around me who are encouraging me and like—you can do it naman! Don’t be so shy! And it’s just fun to have those [kinds of] people around you. So if you have those people around you… obviously you’re doing good. [Even] if you’re shy, you obviously have a talent din.
