Who’s Who at #KWMF2019: ELRIS

K-Pop World Music Festival is coming to Manila in three weeks, and they’ll be bringing some familiar faces! The event will be on June 9, 2019 at the SM Mall of Asia Arena with Red Velvet, NCT 127, ELRIS, Sohee of ELRIS, and Kim Dong Han.

As we approach D-Day, let’s get to know one of the two girl groups in the line-up, namely ELRIS!

The 1st Story

On May 4, Hunus Entertainment released multiple teaser videos throughout their social media pages for their new girl group. One of the members was revealed to be Kim Sohee, who was a contestant on SBS’ “K-Pop Star 6.” Just days after Hunus announced the group’s upcoming debut, she made her solo debut on May 18.

After ending her promotional activities, Sohee joined fellow members Yukyung, Karin, Bella, and Hyeseong as five-member group ELRIS. The group debuted on June 1, 2017 with an electronic-infused, bubbly track “WE, First” from their first album titled The 1st Story.

ELRIS also released two MVS from their first mini-album: “You and I” and “My Star.”

Color Crush and “MIXNINE”

After ending their promotions for The 1st Story, ELRIS teased fans on August on their comeback with their second mini-album Color Crush. The group made their comeback on September 13, 2017 with their cheerful and lively title track “Pow Pow.”

A month later, Bella, Hyeseong, Yukyung, and Karin participated in YG Entertainment’s survival show MIXNINE. Bella is the only member to have lasted far on the show, placing 18th and winning Best Style. Hyeseong was eliminated in Episode 10, ranking 43rd, while Yukyung and Karin didn’t pass the auditions.

Summer Dream and Sohee’s Solo Comeback

June 20, 2018 marked a special occasion for ELRIS, as they announced their fan club name: BLRIS (pronounced “Bliss”). It’s described as a combination of “Bliss” and ELRIS, which means that the group and their fans are each other’s bliss.

ELRIS later released their summer-concept album, Summer Dream, on June 28 with the title track of the same name.

After wrapping up group promotions, Sohee made a comeback with her first solo single album. She dropped the song “Hurry Up”, on October 18 which featured Bolbbalgan4.
