A group of students who are part of a paranormal exploration club head to a house in a secluded area to prove the existence of ghosts.
Sounds like a cliché plot for a horror movie, right?
This plot finds itself another adaptation in Korean horror movie 0.0 MHz. Based on a highly popular webtoon, the film’s title refers to the frequency of human brainwaves required to communicate with spirits from the other side.
The movie brings the tried-and-tested formula that involves a gang of young adults in a haunted house. In the middle of the investigation, someone plays a prank to lighten the mood, and all is well until they encounter real spirits who are out for a vengeance.
0.0 MHz boasts a star-studded cast. The film marks the silver-screen debut of APink’s Eunji and Infinite’s Sungyeol. Completing the main cast are Choi Yoon Young (Designated Survivor: 60 Days), Shin Joo Hwan (Arthdal Chronicles), and Jung Won Chang (Her Private Life). Their performances (particularly Eunji’s) were, no doubt, stellar, but unfortunately, the plot is overused to the point of being forgettable.
With the jump scares littered throughout the film, you’ll jump in your seats in surprise. But in the end, 0.0 MHz is one of those horror films that won’t be worth your second watch.
0.0MHz is currently screening exclusively on SM Cinemas.
