First Filipino film festival in South Korea opens in September

The first Filipino film festival in South Korea will open September 27 to 29 at the Arirang Cinema Center, Seoul, South Korea.

Dubbed the Korea Pinoy International Film Festival (한국필리핀국제영화제), it will be a three-day event as part of the celebration of 100 years of Philippine cinema and in commemoration of the 70th anniversary of the Philippine-South Korea bilateral relations. It will have the theme “Migration” and will present Filipino, Korean, and international films. There will also be discussions from directors, actors, producers, and professionals in the entertainment industry.

The said festival is still accepting submissions for their short film category. Any Filipino-made short film (5 to 15 minutes long) is qualified as long as it is related to Korea or to the theme “Migration.” Submission deadline is on August 31, 2019.
