#KStreetWonders: What if K-Pop idols are teachers?

School work and assignments are now in full swing for most of our younger readers! Maaaring medyo tambak na kayo ngayon and the inspiration may be running low to finish all your tasks. With this in mind, we decided to ask “What if our fave K-Pop idols and K-drama stars were teachers in high school?” We hope that imagining your faves as your teachers will cheer you up somehow.

TVXQ Yunho

A principal is someone who the rest of the school looks up to and counts on to set the standard for everyone else to follow. Considering Yunho’s talent and many years of experience in the industry, it’s not surprising that he is one of the idols the new generation looks up to. He is also acknowledged as one of the leaders of K-Pop. With all this in mind, is there anyone else you can imagine as the highest form of authority in school?

In some other life, Aron would have probably been a reporter. He was in the top 0.5 percentile for the SAT, an exam used for college admissions in the United States. He received 2180 points out of 2400, and got 100% on the writing part of the exam. Aron was admitted to New York University and was intending to major in Journalism, but he decided to become a singer instead!

Sandara Park

There’s no other K-Pop idol who can bridge both Filipino and Korean culture better than Sandara Park. After all, she spent more than half her life here. As we all know, she even became a local celebrity before pursuing a much bigger dream in Korea. She may be a worldwide star now, but she will always have a soft spot for the Philippines. Aminin na natin, she’s more Pinoy than some of us.

EXO Suho

Who doesn’t like Math? Raise your hands! Surely, that will change your mind when you have someone like Suho as your Math teacher. Not only is he handsome, but he is also good with numbers, as demonstrated in Problematic Men. He also explains it in such a way that is easy to understand, which is important for those of us who aren’t as good at Math as he is.

Han Seungyeon

Had Seungyeon not become a Kara member, she says she would have become a doctor. The Age of Youth and About Time actress actually studied with the goal of attending Johns Hopkins University, a university in Maryland, USA known for its medicine programs.

ASTRO Cha Eunwoo

Cha Eunwoo would definitely look so good in a lab coat. Every student needs a teacher who will brighten their day, and who else’s face can do the job? Makita mo pa lang mukha niya, buo na araw mo. The only downside is that you’ll be too distracted by his face to actually focus in class! But okay, looks aside, according to his classmates, he is known to get good grades in school! While little is known about his chemistry skills, with good looks and good brains, a subject as hard as chemistry would definitely become your favorite kung si Eunwoo ang teacher mo.

Girl’s Day Sojin

Girl’s Day’s leader graduated from university with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. Out of the 1,000 students in their department, only eight of them were women. Physics is one of the major subjects in mechanical engineering, so it makes sense for her to teach that. Besides, having Sojin as a physics teacher sends at least two positive messages to high school girls: you can be both pretty and smart; and women can slay traditionally male-dominated fields.

Araling Panlipunan

Eric Nam

If there’s anyone qualified to teach us about history and social issues, Eric Nam would be on top of our list. Besides refusing to make fun of Gandhi and the LGBT community on SNL Korea, he also graduated with distinction from Boston College in 2011 with a major in International Studies and a minor in Asian Studies. He also spent a year at Peking University — the top academic institution in China.

Kim Jaekyung

When she was still promoting with Rainbow, Jaekyung was known to be one of the most talented idols. Her drawings and paintings are always different from each other, and she boasts a wide range of styles. The Secret Life of My Secretary star is also a skilled fashion designer, having made clothes for both herself and her dog. She can also do calligraphy, flower arranging, and pottery. She was the art director for sub-unit Rainbow BLAXX’s debut, and has done graphic design work for swimwear brand Manta.

Shin Yumi

Before she became a vocal trainer on Produce X 101, Shin Yumi was a vocal coach for both YG Entertainment and JYP Entertainment. She has trained some of the most popular K-Pop acts today such as GOT7, TWICE, Day6, BLACKPINK, and soloist Lee Hi. She also participated in The Voice Korea. Beautiful, talented, and supportive, it’s no wonder that both the trainees and the viewers love her. If she’s good enough for the trainees, then she’s more than enough for us!

Physical Education

SHINee Minho

There’s no question that Minho lives and breathes sports, and we bet he’ll be more than happy to share that passion with his students. He even wanted to become a professional soccer player when he was a child. You name the sport, Minho can probably do it. Though he missed his calling as a superstar athlete, his athletic abilities have earned him a permanent spot as one of the cast members of Let’s Go! Dream Team Season 2 and is referred to as “Ace.”

Home Economics

Monsta X Kihyun

If there’s one thing we all wished we paid better attention to, it would be the cooking lessons during Home Economics classes. Trust us, your future adult selves will thank you for it. Although there are many idol chefs out there, Monsta X’s Kihyun makes a great teacher since he’s approachable and not too intimidating. After all, teaching adulting skills requires a lot of patience.

Super Junior Siwon

No other K-Pop idol can rival Siwon’s love for God. Do you know of any other artist whose solo performance was a church song? We don’t think so. With Siwon’s good looks, weird sense of humor, and patience, he can perhaps encourage students to behave better and for those in Catholic schools, take CLE more seriously.

Will you be more willing to go to class if you’ll get to see them every day? Who else do you think would make a great teacher? Let us know in the comments section!

Clara Palma
A frustrated supermodel/ballerina/novelist who lists Super Junior, EXO, and Infinite as some of her favorite groups, Clara’s first exposure to all things Korean was through K-dramas Lovers in Paris and Goong. She is willing to talk about fashion, beauty, dance, books, all things baduy, and figure skating over a cup of tea. She co-runs a figure skating blog You Only Lutz Once with fellow KStreet contributor Bea. Check out her blog or follow her on Twitter.
