IN PHOTOS: PH-KR friendship lives on at PhilKor 2019

The Philippines and Korea celebrated 70 years and beyond of friendship and traditions at the 28th Philippines-Korean Cultural Exchange Festival at Aliw Theater, Pasay City last September 28.

In the afternoon, the Phil-Kor community was delighted with the much-anticipated talent competition divided into singing and dancing categories. Filipino and Korean finalists were chosen in advance to perform in Korean and Filipino, respectively.

Here are the winners of this year’s talent competition:

Singing Category

  • 3rd Place: April Rose Tolentino
  • 2nd Place: Yoon Dong Hyun
  • 1st Place: Hazelyn Dequit

Dancing Category

  • 3rd Place: Mix ‘In
  • 2nd Place: Fifth Shadow
  • 1st Place: VJBROS

Overall Grand Winner

  • Venisse Siy of the Singing Category

In the evening, cultural performances from Taegeuk Samulnori Team and Philippine Madrigal Singers left the audience in awe.

Hues of both nations illuminated the stage in the traditional fashion show featuring the Maharlika Collection of Filipino Wrap Artiste, Ditta Sandico, and the Hanbok collection of Korean Designer, Kim Yong-ae.

K-Pop met P-Pop with the back-to-back showstopping performances of Korean Dance Diva, Dasuri Choi, and Pop Girls member, Jean Kiley.

Fans screamed their hearts out with the captivating performances of Korean Bae, Jinho Bae, and P-Pop boy group, SB19.

The event was organized by the United Korean Community Association in the Philippines, Korean Cultural Center in the Philippines, National Commission for Culture and Arts, and supported by the Embassy of Korea to the Philippines.
