This Month’s Beat: HINAPIA

It was a sad day for K-pop fans early this year when Pledis Entertainment released a statement that confirmed the disbandment of its first girl group Pristin mere two years after they debuted. But as they say, a rainbow shines after the rain. Following the disbandment, four of former Pristin members Minkyeung (Roa), Gyeongwon (Yuha), Eunwoo, Yaebin (Rena) re-debuted with new member Bada as HINAPIA─short for Hi New Amazing Utopia─under OSR Entertainment on November 3, 2019.

According to the members, HINAPIA will showcase more matured concepts than Pristin had and will give off a “girl crush” vibe. To drive this point home, HINAPIA’s debut track “Drip” oozed with power and charisma that got the fans talking. Much like the title of their first digital single album, it has been a great New Start for them, with “Drip” immediately landing on the 18th spot of Billboard‘s World Digital Song Sales chart.
