ASICS GEL-1090™ makes a comeback with K-Pop group KARD

This is a press release.

ASICS is bringing back one of their boldest early millennial sneakers, the GEL-1090™, with Korean co-ed pop group KARD as their new ambassadors. With its classic 2000s look, clean design, and technical construction, the GEL-1090™ is a timeless and classic silhouette built to excite and thrill fans.

Returning in its original silver colorway with iconic red-to-yellow fading ASIC stripes, the GEL-1090™ will see six new colorways releasing this February, with one more in April. First released in 2004 originally as a running shoe, the GEL-1090™ quickly became a firm favorite thanks to its sleek design, superior comfort, and affordability.

From February 13 to March 13, ASICS will be running in-store retail and online promotions for the GEL-1090™. With every purchase of the sneaker, KARD fans will be able to stand a chance to see the group up close and personal in Manila, Philippines at the end of April for the GEL-1090™ launch party.

ASICS SPORTSTYLE will also run a hide-and-seek social media game (on Instagram handle @findkard) for two weeks from February 14 to 28. Titled #FINDKARD, this interactive game encourages fans to participate by solving puzzles and mini games to locate where KARD is.

The grand prize winner will stand to win a pair of tickets to Manila, Philippines to see KARD at the GEL-1090™ launch party. Other prizes up for grabs include ASICS shopping vouchers and GEL-1090™ sneakers.

In March, special limited-edition apparel will also be launched as part of the GEL-1090™ campaign that was inspired by KARD. Fans can purchase hoodies and T-shirts in the four KARD member’s favorite colors (specially handpicked by each member) to complement and complete their GEL-1090™ styling.

Created for fearless runners who seek the thrill of finishing first and the continuous challenge of beating their personal best, the GEL-1090™ evokes excitement. Its design draws inspiration from an unusual source, motorsports, where extreme speed and high energy are intrinsically found.

Drawing on decades of Japanese expertise and innovation, the GEL-1090™ features groundbreaking GEL technology under the heel and forefoot, and a durable rubber outsole with flex grooves for extra stability and traction. The streamlined upper brings to mind the aerodynamic form of a race car with sleek leather overlays placed against a lightweight mesh base to create a light and comfortable sneaker.

The GEL-1090™ is available in Philippines from February 13 onward in the colorways listed below. Hi-res images of the GEL-1090™ can be found at the link here:
