PH reporter apologizes for attempted ambush interview with SEVENTEEN

GMA 7 reporter Marisol Abdurahman issued an apology after drawing flak when she attempted an ambush interview with K-Pop group SEVENTEEN upon arrival at NAIA, February 7.

In several videos taken by fans who were also at the airport, Abdurahman was caught trying to interview the K-Pop boy group as they boarded their service vans, prompting security personnel to stop her. She was also heard exclaiming, “Kung ako lang ayokong i-cover yang mga ‘yan ano!” (“If I had it my way, I wouldn’t cover them!”).

The videos circulated among SEVENTEEN fans, called Carats, who then demanded for an apology from GMA 7. Abdurahman then posted her apology letter through GMA 7’s official Twitter.

Abdurahman explained that she “had a bad encounter with the airport security” which included getting pushed hard and their camera lens covered “several times.” She also regretted saying “words which [she] should have not said,” saying that she uttered them out of frustration.

“While my words were definitely uncalled for, they do not define my true character as a journalist built over the years. Again, I am extending my sincerest apologies to the fans and I wish Seventeen a successful concert.”
