Before we reach the end of the International Women’s Month, KStreetManila puts on the spotlight to one of Korea’s top social media influencers and the It girl of the new generation to inspire every woman out there.

Get to know the Korean-American fashion and beauty blogger and model, Irene Kim.

On being a trendsetter

In 2012, Irene Kim debuted as a model on her first runway shows at Jardin de Chouette and SJYP in Seoul. But it didn’t take her too long to steal the attention of the Big Apple. It was during NYFW Spring 2014 when she painted the city with her vibrant style and rainbow-colored hair.

Everything happened so fast and since then, the rising runway star of Seoul started working with designer brands such as Chanel, Balmain, Mulberry, Jimmy Choo, Tory Burch, and Calvin Klein to name a few.

Just like the Hallyu Wave, the model-turned-It girl became unstoppable and left her name across the global fashion scene. In 2015, Estée Lauder appointed her as one of its Global Beauty Contributors alongside supermodel Kendall Jenner.

Kim conquered not just the international runways and fashion week front rows. She also graced the magazine covers and spreads of Grazia China, Chic Magazine China, Ceci Korea, Cosmopolitan Korea, Marie Claire Taiwan, and Harper’s Bazaar Singapore among others.

On being an SNS Sweetheart

The social media star captured the hearts of her 1.7 million followers on Instagram not just because of her impeccable taste in fashion but also for being the voice of every young woman to spread positivity and good vibes.

It’s not hard to fall in love with her. People can be easily drawn by Kim’s playful antics, bubbly personality, and self-expressive content.

It’s true that the universe will always find its way for creative and fun-loving people to get along. In fact, Kim has been a good friend and collaborator with K-Pop stars like Jessica Jung, Amber Liu, Red Velvet’s Seulgi, Jo Kwon, SHINee’s Key, and the members BTS and BLACKPINK.

On being a Girl Boss

The model-turned-It girl thought that it’s time to explore and inspire more people with her craft. Thus, she launched her own fashion label, IRENEISGOOD, named after her social media moniker in 2018.

Now that she’s a creative director and a girl boss herself, Kim empowers her brand with her mantra #GOODFORYOU and belief that everyone should stay true to themselves and embrace their individuality through fashion.

Some of the notable K-Pop stars who wore the brand’s collection pieces are Red Velvet’s Seulgi, Amber Liu, Jung Hae-in, Cha Eun-woo, BTS’ J-Hope and Jimin, and BLACKPINK’s Lisa, Jennie, and Jisoo.

Most of the time, IRENEISGOOD’s limited collections are sold online. But Kim hears her loyal fans and makes time to bring some pieces out of the closet to pop-up stores. Her first pop-up events were held in Shanghai and Seoul, and just last year, the brand made its way to Paris Fashion Week for its first-ever showroom featuring the Spring/Summer 2020 collection. Through this bold move, we can clearly say that Kim’s dream for her brand is to make it big and global.

No doubt, the TIME Magazine hailed Kim as one of the most influential women in their 30s and called her a “next-generation leader.”
