As of March 9, there are 20 recorded cases of COVID-19 in the Philippines. The Department of Health raised Code Red Sub-level 1 last March 7 followed by President Duterte’s declaration of state of public health emergency today. Local and national governments have intervened to prevent further infections through class suspensions and frequent reminders to wash hands, avoid crowded places, and use alcohol and sanitizers.
