K-Pop fans spam pro-Anti-Terror Bill hashtag with fan cams

Amid the ongoing calls to reject House Bill (HB) 6875 or the Anti-Terrorism Bill, #SupportAntiTerrorBill topped the Philippine trends on Twitter on Thursday night─but for a completely different reason.

The tag, which has been used in more than 22,500 tweets as of writing, was filled by K-pop stans with fan cams and video edits, coupled with messages that are actually opposing the measure.

A similar tactic was done by K-Pop fans for the anti-Black Lives Matter campaigns in the US.

While amusing to many, this move did not sit well with some Hallyu fans who believe using this hashtag would give the impression that the people are supportive of the bill.

Certified urgent by Malacañang, HB 6875 was passed on final reading by the House of Representatives on June 3. Its Senate version was approved in February.
