EXO commemorative medals will be released and be available for pre-order in the Philippines this August 2020!
The medals, first released in 2018, will be available through Kosmos Pop, with the pre-order period running from August 11, 7PM, to August 19.
When EXO became quadruple million sellers in 2017 with the release of their “The War” album, the Korean Mint Corporation unveiled nine official commemorative medals for EXO in recognition of their contribution to the global spread of Korean culture. The official medal ceremony took place on April 18, 2018, attended by EXO members Suho, Baekhyun, and Kai. This officially made them the first K-Pop group to receive the honor.
The original 5,000 units and 100 sets produced got sold out in a day. Due to the rarity of the item, prices skyrocketed online, with a Baekhyun photocard seen listed as $154, while a standard edition listed as $195.
The Korea Minting and Security Printing Corporation worked with expert currency designers to feature the faces of all nine members on its obverse (front surface). The reverse (back surface) featured EXO’s logo, along with special anti-counterfeiting measures. The medals were released for sale for fans.
The medal has rigid forgery prevention program that features latent image (changes according to the angles of view on the obverse), prevention of reproduction (use of PUF scanner application to check for genuine status and product information), and certificate of authenticity (includes a letter of guarantee with online verification of genuine status on Solipcont’s website).
There are two versions available, both made of 99.9% pure silver. The special package includes an outer box, silver medal box, the 31.1-gram 40mm silver medal, showcase, showcase box, cleaner, and a photocard. The standard edition includes the outerbox, the 15.55-gram 28mm silver medal, and photocard.
