The Four Times BLACKPINK Proved They’re Queens of the Stage

Written by Keith Alano

It cannot be argued that this four-member girl group’s impact goes beyond everyone’s expectations when they debuted. Presented for their visuals, charisma, an inimitable rap line, and a heavenly vocal line, BLACKPINK flew above and beyond the world in terms of recognition and achievements. But why is it exactly that the rest of the world is enamored with this girl group?

Personally, I just watch a simple three-minute video of any of their performances and can see as to why millions of fans fall head over heels in love for the girls. Their stage presence is truly unlike any other! In celebration of their 4th year anniversary, I have compiled what I consider their four most energy filled and impassioned performances. Who knows maybe by watching these videos, you would find yourselves on the hunt for more? I know I would.

WHISTLE + PLAYING WITH FIRE

2016 Melon Music Awards

As soon as the girls debuted, they were quick to let anyone know that they did not come around to play. As they started achieving great lengths and began their ascend to the top, BLACKPINK left behind a slew of charismatic performances during their debut year that had everyone screaming “Hwiparam” and “Boombayah!” at the top of their lungs. This performance of theirs at the 2016 Melon Music Awards was a showstopper with its attention grabbing stage presence and the seamless transition from one song to another. No wonder the girls left that venue with the Best New Artist award under their belt!

SOLO + DDU-DU DDU-DU + FOREVER YOUNG

2018 SBS Gayo Daejun

Who can possibly forget this iconic SBS year end music festival performance? Jennie’s beautiful performance of SOLO ended with a one night only rendition where Jisoo, Rosè, and Lisa danced her solo song along with her. Not only that but BLINKS were also treated to a very rare dance break before the girls finally came together to perform their most recent releases, DDU-DU DDU-DU and Forever Young. This is definitely a holy grail of BLACKPINK performances and one that shouldn’t be missed!

A-NATION CONCERT IN JAPAN 2019

Unless you’re like me who enjoys scouring the internet for all BLACKPINK performances I can sink my teeth in, this one might be a new discovery to you. Their A-NATION appearance in Japan was truly a gem as the girls devoured the stage with their overflowing charisma, undeniable energy, form fitting costumes, an accompanying live band, and the strongest of live vocals. The way you can clearly tell how they’re just feeling themselves and loving every second of it makes you wish you were there with them too.

COACHELLA 2019 PERFORMANCE

We have finally arrived at what I strongly believe is the crème de la crème of BLACKPINK performances. Lauded as the “first ever K-Pop girl group” to perform at a U.S. festival, BLACKPINK at Coachella was one of historical proportions. Energetic, enigmatic, and captivating were just a few of the adjectives used to describe BLACKPINK’s performance at the renowned annual music festival held at Coachella Valley in California. To be honest, I perfectly agree. Watching them go off on stage, completely enjoying themselves was such a sight to see!
