Did You Know: There’s already a PH app a la Start-Up’s NoonGil?

Fans of Netflix’s K-drama Start-Up are sure inspired with SamSan Tech‘s NoonGil app, which aims to help visually impaired people. In the series, Nam Do San (portrayed by Nam Joo Hyuk) is the mastermind in creating the app after wanting to help someone close to his heart. (We’ll keep this under wraps for those who haven’t seen the drama yet!)

While many apps exists in real life (e.g. Airpoly Vision and Angel Eyes just to name a few), there is actually one proudly Filipino made!

Developed by a group of BS Information Technology students in Don Mariano Marcos Memorial State University (DMMMSU) in 2019, Bright Light in Navigating Dark or B.L.I.N.D. uses image recognition and speech tech to identify texts, objects, and even money!

These students were even lauded as one of the Top 5 Android Masters in 2019.

Talk about Filipino ingenuity! You may download the app from Google Play Store.
