K-Drama is such a massive hit these days, most especially in the Philippines where its kilig-inducing scenes, heart-touching stories, and gorgeous leading men and women who are a sure charmer for many emotional and romantic Filipinos. And with Valentine’s Day just days away, Vice Asia rode the Korean wave and took it the Hallyu way!
In one of their latest video features titled “I Tried a K-Drama Makeover to Win Some Love“, Vice Asia transformed their own producer, Filipino Mat Yuhico, to become a K-Drama leading man and experience what it is like to be an “oppa” — including a romantic date with a leading lady!
Mat gets a Korean make-over courtesy of Ghia Lim, Nasia Cammayo, and KStreetManila’s resident beauty expert and writer Aria Ortega. But the transformation wasn’t just on Mathew’s looks! They also gave him tips on how to act like a real “oppa”, training him on stereotypical but still romantic K-Drama gestures such as tying a lady’s shoelace, keeping her from getting wet by the rain, and the good old classic piggy-back ride.
Mat underwent all these exciting trouble, including shaving his beard off — the first time in two years, he said — in preparation for a “K-Drama” date where he did not just experience the “oppa” life but learned more about K-Drama as well from his date, K-Drama aficionado Nina Tay.
