The Penthouse is without a doubt the hottest K-drama right now. Now on its second season, the drama dominates Korea’s weekend nights with its double-digit ratings per episode. But did you know that Eugene, who plays the vengeful Oh Yoon Hee, visited the Philippines before?
2006 – The Philippines’ Special Envoy to Korea
Back in 2006, Eugene was “The Philippines’ Special Envoy to Korea”, where she promoted the Philippines as a tourist destination for Koreans. We did some digging and we found that her visit to Bohol was even reported on Mnet:
She also became a special guest where Zanjoe Marudo serenaded her the theme song of her 2004 hit drama, Save the Last Dance. The Tagalog-dubbed drama aired on ABS-CBN back in 2005.
2008 – Romantic Island
In 2008, Eugene returned to the Philippines for the promotion of her movie, Romantic Island. The film starred Lee Sun Kyun (Coffee Prince, Parasite), Lee Soo Kyung (What’s Wrong with Secretary Kim?), and Lee Min Ki (Because This is My First Life). The romantic comedy film was shot in Boracay as part of the tourism partnership efforts of South Korea and the Philippines.
